  • Very good say about the clumsy corporate procedure stuff! It seems the bigger the company, the worse the customer service would be…… am sure United is not just the only one. Glad that you know how to play that game, my best wishes to your friend, Sabine.

  • Thanks, I’m picking her up at LAX tomorrow night, so I’ll show her all of your responses. She will be touched. Thanks –Carey

  • Glad you could get your friend with you. Tell her how sorry I am for her losses. I have been praying for her. I also have been praying for all the families and friends who lost so many. I also have been praying for the shooter’s family, how horrible for them. Judi

  • Have just watched the shocking news from NBC regarding the package of photos and videos and texts…really dunno what to say more

  • that is scary. i live out in cali, and the news are swamped with this.

everyone is talking about prevention this, prevention that. i am SO sick of the killer’s face. what makes this most scary is people will probably invest more in ‘defense’ programs for making the campus more safe than providing care for mentally ill students. i’m ranting. but isn’t it unnerving that the news is just covering the killer, but you don’t hear much about the victims?

  • sending thoughts of love and healing to all those personnally touched

by the tragic events of this week, please give Sabine a hug from michigan,

how lucky she is to have you as her friend,

     be well,

    *~matthew~*

  • Regarding all of your comments:  Thank you so much.  The outpouring of affection has been remarkable, and I’ve shown my friend each comment and message.  She is devastated at the loss of 10 of her friends, but she’s happy to be in California for a few days with her friends here.  She’s from Germany so she has no family in the States.  Again, thanks so much for your thoughtfulness. –Carey

  • I Don’t Like Mondays

  • Watching this on the news this week quite horrified and saddened me. Reading your friend’s story personalised it a lot more, though, and made me want to cry. I am so sorry for the loss of her friends, I cannot begin to imagine how hard it must be to try and cope and come to terms with such a tragedy. Let her know that people’s thoughts from all over the world are with her and everybody else affected.

The worst single-perpetrator massacre in (modern) history happened in my state, Tasmania, ten years ago now – 36 people died. It has forever changed Port Arthur (the place it happened) for everybody who has been there before and since. I still remember the shock of learning it had happened somewhere I was familiar with and that people I knew had only just avoided been killed. It is a terrible thing to try and comprehend such horror from an outside perspective, let alone have to cope with it first-hand.

  • wish your friend Sabine can recover from the pian =]

  • *Hugs* to her. I hope she’s feeling okay. Being away from family and friends can be so tough. I hope she’s coping well. I think she’s really lucky to have a friend like you.

  • I’m so sorry your friend had to endure such pain and tragedy. Reading those emails really brought back those horrible scenes I saw on the news. The idea that our lives can be taken so suddenly and so randomly really scares me.

  • @Sam - Thanks Sam…it’s a painful reminder of the fragility of life.
