  • Garage Gets Owned, Paris is Burning & Lonely Goat Herds at The Hollywood Bowl

We just got back from the Hollywood Bowl.  It was a great night…except for one thing.  My beautiful new camera is gone.  I don’t even feel like talking about it now…it will just make me sad.  Luckily Seth brought his camera, so I was at least able to take a few photos with that.  Here are a few of my favorites.  To see the rest, skip down below.  Good night!

This morning I’m having breakfast on my patio and I hear this loud horrible boom.  I look across the street and this is what I saw.  I ran and got my camera.  I wish I’d gotten the video of this dumb wench getting out of her car and looking up at the garage wondering what happened.  It was if she had no concept of what she’d just done.  She was tilting her head, like a dog tilts his head when you ask if he wants to go for a walk.  LOL.  After getting unstuck, she drove away…but I had my camera set on high resolution, so I have her license plate clear as day.  Damn women drivers!!

The building was FUGLY anyway.  Maybe they’ll repaint it.  It’s filled with vapid commercial actresses who are always letting their dogs shit in my yard and not picking it up.  I wish she have done more structural damage!

So, Mika Brzezinski, on MSNBC, had a histrionic, possibly staged freakout during which she refused to lead with the Paris Hilton story, called her producer out (by name) for scheduling it atop her newscast, and even tried to burn the paper with the Hilton copy. Staged or not, does she have a point?  Read and see more…

Tonight we went to the famed Hollywood Bowl to see the “Singalong Sound of Music“.  The show was sold out and there were 18,000 people there.   The “pre show parade” started at 6:00 and featured hundreds of people dressed as characters, songs or things from the movie!  I was thinking of putting a nun habit on my head (with a soccer ball of course…see below) and having a pack of cigarettes rolled up in my shirt sleeve, and saying I was “A problem like Maria”.    The kid who ended up winning the costume contest was dressed as “How do you hold a moonbeam in your hand”.  The costume was brilliant, and he won a trip to the Mexican Riviera!

If you haven’t ever been to the “sing-along” version of the Sound of Music; they basically play the movie, and all the songs are subtitled.  Everyone sings, and sometimes acts out.  You’re given a “goodie bag” with sprigs of edelweiss and other assorted Sound of Music memorabilia.

The Hollywood Bowl is such a magical place to be in the summer.  It’s nestled within the Hollywood Hills, just outside a major freeway, but when you’re there it’s like you’re in the middle of nowhere.  It’s so quiet and the acoustics are excellent.  It’s one of the largest natural amphitheaters in the world.  It’s been around since 1922 and has hosted everyone from The Beatles and Rolling Stones to Frank Sinatra and Judy Garland.  I wonder what my pictures would have looked like in 1922??

Here are the rest of the pictures in living color.

  • Errr… what are you going to do about that “accident”?

  • Sound of music, i know it’s a great musical. But i never have the chance to see it..

    what a shame…LOL

  • Ryc, LOL, yea, i know, you told me before. I just never understand why. the song is about drugs addiction only.

  • Hotel California is about drug addiction? I had no idea….it just always creeped me out as a kid. Now I know why!

  • Singalong Sound Of Music was fantastic!  I only wish the costume contest portion of the night were at least half as long as it was.  Then maybe our daughter could have lasted the entire show.  By the way, she finally pooped out at 11pm when we were 5 minutes from home!

Sorry about your camera – I’m sure you’ll post about it later – looking forward to some pics from the evening.

As for the Paris Hilton story, I didn’t follow the link but I agree with the sentiment, staged or not, and actually I think it’s absolutely rediculous that *that* is now news.  WTF!!!  How many degrees of separation from Paris Hilton does it have to be before it no longer qualifies as news???  So, to counter your post about newscasters who really or fakely believe they have any say whatsoever about the news that their network puts on the airwaves in reference to a *socialite* who who wouldn’t even be a footnote if real journalists were running the media, here is a bit of good that squeaked its way through the corporate BS machine, copied and pasted from kucinich.us:

Dennis (Kucinich) appeared on the David Letterman show Friday, June 29, 2007. He discussed his term as mayor of Cleveland 30 years ago, his life of public service, his vision of health care for all, peace and prosperity for America that is powering his run for the presidency, and his love for his wife, Elizabeth.

Letterman concluded the interview by shaking Dennis’ hand and saying “Well, you’ve got my vote.”

To end my comment on a more whimsical note, I played Hotel California with my high school band Ground Zero.  We even played the dueling guitar solo at a jam packed house party (parents out of town) of one of our friends, and it was one of the high points of that band.

  • Thanks Seth…the Bowl was fun. Thanks for the tickets and food. I’m posting photos in a few minutes, so stick around. Ciao

  • Not all women drivers are bad, just most! =)

  • Life in the big town eh? Judi

  • wow~ great photos~!!

  • Hahaha, I can’t believe you have video footage of that women! :P

The black and white slide show looks really nice.

  • I just watched the video of Elton John performing the song at her funeral on YouTube, it was very touching seeing all those people in there…

Thanks for telling me about it. :)

  • hah we can all see the license plate. go google it or go to the dmv website and see if anything comes up.

  • I didn’t film the video. Although it would have been pretty neat to be the one. I came across the video on my daily routine of browsing video sites. Neat photos you have here. And since you have the lady on film you may now sell her the footage in return for mula. :) hehe

  • ryc: thanks :)
taking the photo was great, too! i was walking behind my mom with my brother, camera in hand, so i just called out to him and he turned and i snapped.
