  • Rest In Peace

    David Champeau 1947-2007

I’ll be gone this week spending some time with my cousins and helping to watch the kids while they make arrangements.  Before Dave died peacefully in his sleep this morning, he was likely the oldest person in the world with Cystic Fibrosis.  Life expectancy in usually under 37 years old, and he was 60.  He leaves behind my cousin Darlene, 2 daughters, Jennifer & Lisa, and 4 grandchildren, Cole, Tommy, Tressa & Andy.  Throughout his lifelong illness, I never heard him complain once, though he was in constant pain or distress.  Even in the hospital this past month on life support, he would continue giving the thumbs up whenever you asked him how he was feeling.  He loved his grandchildren more than anything, and enjoyed taking them fishing on the lake.  He was the definition of “joie de vivre” and he will be missed.

  • Aww , Im sorry :( I’m sure Dave had an awesome life . Dave sounds like a very nice person.

  • aww my condolences *hugs* hope you feel better.

  • Why thank you for the comment, I love those kids as if they were my own. It is wonderful to be an Aunt, I spoil them and send them home! I am so sorry to hear the news, but it does sound like he was a wonderful person and loved by many. It also sounds like he had a good life, besides his illness. We have so much to be thankful for and instead we complain about things that are not worth mentioning. I have found that people that are diagnose with a chronic illness tend to look at life differently and less likely to take it for grant. You and your family will be in my prayers. Take care.

  • I’m sorry to hear about your lost. Wherever Dave is, may his soul rest in peace. My condolences to you and your family. *hug*

  • I’m sorry to hear about your loss. Thanks for the comment on my pictures, just an amateur with a point and shoot. your xanga makes me actually miss LA/UCLA.

  • i’m sorry to hear about ur loss. CF is genetics, autosomal recessive – i hope his grandchildren are OK. I would suggest that ur cousins (his children) should have genetic testing on their spouses to rule out they are also not the carriers b4 having any kids.

  • if u sent me a message – i didn’t receive it. Just got notified.
