  • Dogs & Dumplings

No, not dog dumplings!  I saw this photo on the news tonight.  Apparently, the mother of a 13 year old snow boarder on Copper Mountain took the photo.  Now granted, I’ve been known to sacrifice personal danger to “get the shot”.  But if I was that kid’s mother…I’m not so sure I’d be “focusing” on my f-stop.  (Though if I was his father, I might.  LOL.)  Damn good picture though.

Here’s a shot my brother took in Vancouver last year.  What a beautiful animal.

From coyotes to wolves to huskies, today’s video of the day also comes from Canada:

Here are last night’s photos.  I’m out of town this week (and next) and will be working long hours, so may not update much until the weekend.  Have a good week everyone.

  • Wow, u’ve been to taipei too eh?  I plan to work there next year..hehe.

As for that camera, it looks hot.  I have a tiny powershot digital elph…only 4 mp but it does the trick and slips easily into my pocket.  I couldn’t imagine a day without it..haha.  One day, i’d like to get a good one like yours.

  • @straw_hut - I loved my elph too…great cameras.   You’ll be able to get whatever you want someday…don’t worry.  Remember I’m twice your age!    Yes too, to Taipei.  You would be hard pressed to find a city I haven’t been to .  Love the food there!

  • sorry i missed commenting your previous post computer and electrical problems plaguing me.  good luck with the new cam – it looks like a nice one.  have fun and be safe on your trip.  peace, Al

  • @pukemeister - Thanks.  Have a great week!

  • The video won’t play. Maybe it’s the computer I’m using…

My friend is still recovering, thanks for asking.

  • The food looked yummy.  When I saw the first photo before the caption popped up I was like “whoa that’s a really long name, I wonder how they have it listed in the phone book”?!  What are/is lychees?  Have a safe trip where ever it may be that you’re going! :)

  • @Delaware_Pirate - Lychees are a truly delicious fruit!  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lychees If you have any ethnic grocery stores around there, you should be able to find them. If not, you should be able to get them in cans in normal stores, but fresh are better.

  • @Fongster8 - You mean the slide show in this entry?  Try this:  http://picasaweb.google.com/CareyanthonyGLY

  • Thats it ? more photo !!! :)
Well looks like you have a great fun.

  • looks like you had a nice evening.  Lychee sounds great.  I’m craving that now.

  • I’m all right. Xanga’s just a bit boring lately to me… so I haven’t posted anything. Blame facebook.

    How have you been?

  • mmmm… I love those dumplings especially with the pinkish vinegar and the slivers of young ginger.  *stomach starts to growl*

  • Rc : Lol, you copy my words.
The reasons I only have 1 picture is : it took me almost 10 – 15 minutes just to upload that one pictures. I was playing solitaire 2 – 3 times before it actually uploaded. i dont have the patient to wait ha ha ha.

  • @vsan79 - You need to use the VSO Image Resizer (for Vista) or the Microsoft Resizer for XP if your photos are taking that long to upload to Xanga.  There’s no reason to have a high res photo like that uploaded full size, as it will only be displayed in a tiny size on your Xanga.

  • I need a new camera like that. Would love to take some nice pictures like yours and I love the big view screen on the back of it too.

Just thought I would also say that I finally got to read all you latest posts about the freaks that picket at funerals – yes they are from my neck of the woods (Kansas).  I have to also say that not everyone is in agreement with them just because we are from the “Bible Belt”(even though I am sure you are aware of that).  It disgusts me that people that do these kind of things make the rest of the Good Christian people in the “Bible Belt” area look so bad.  They are awful, horrible people that I believe will some day get what they really deserve.  God would never want them to act the way they are!

And a question – What is lychee?  (now you really think I am an unexposed little Kansan I am sure)

  • @blessedbumble - Thanks!  Actually, I’m starting to get a bit desensitized to the Fred Phelps stuff.  It’s so ridiculously over the top,  I think he actually helps conservative Christians realize how dangerous that kind of radicalism can be.  And yes, I’m certainly aware that not everyone in the Bible Belt or that every Christian or even Republican supports such nonsense.  But it’s a free country, so let the discourse begin!

BTW, lychees are a WONDERFUL fruit.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lychee
If you have any ethnic (Asian) grocery stores (LOL) you might be able to find them fresh in season.  Otherwise, ask your local grocer where you can get some canned.  They’re yummy!

  • i don’t eat lychees :)

dimsums are the best. i think it was last week were i ate siomais every day. there’s this stall near the place where i stay and i just couldn’t resist buying. i just loved the softness plus the dip. my brother ordered canton noodles last weekend too so you can say i’m full with with.

  • I would like to have a big view screen like yours. My Camcorder does have a view screen but not as large. Judi

  • cool new vids – have a great week yourself.  peace, Al

  • @jassmine - They’re getting cheper all the time Judi.  Just wait

  • The picture your brother took is very good!

  • @CareyGLY - I will have to see if I can find the lychees somewhere in the city!  Don’t know when the “in” season would be though – I am sure I can figure that out pretty quickly.  I love the picture of the wolf.

  • what’s a  good way to fight off a coyote on a one-to-one confrontation?  do u stand a chance if u use your ski-pole against it?

  • @straw_hut - They’re usually scared of people…that’s the weird part.  They’re getting more and more aggressive as we encroach on their territory.

  • So the Coyote is real – verified from Denver, CO.  Confirmed the little guy was a local on the hill, just begging for all the food and snacks in kids ski jacket pockets :)

  • Regarding the new wing at DTF, I totally agree the service is not as attentive.  Anyways, let me know whenever you need a “dumpling fix”!
Have fun on your “business” trip!! LOL

  • OMG Din Tai Fung seriously has the best dumplings. I hate the long wait lines there though. Ick

  • if that coyote attack it would of been also another great shot… well a different kind of great shot… :oX
