26 Miles of Moslems, Santa Rapists & Gay Idols
Well, this election just keeps getting more and more exciting. I’m secretly hoping for a Clinton/Obama ticket, though that seems unlikely. I do still stand by what I said a few weeks ago. Although, on the surface it appears that America has a new black friend, last night proved (in Texas and Ohio of all places) that we’re not quite yet ready to hit the delete button on Hillary.
Speaking of the Lone Star Asylum (sorry James), I had a conversation yesterday with someone from Texas who told me they could never vote for a black Moslem. (Yes, Moslem, not even Muslim.) The conversation ended when the person insisted that George W. Bush had done his job by keeping us safe the past 8 years. I kid you not. This is the kind of thinking we’re up against!
Enough about politics though. The only election most Americans care about of course is the election of the next American Idol.
Is it my imagination or is this the gayest season yet (even more than last year!)? Danny Noriega makes Clay Aiken (Gayken) look like Bruce Springsteen. Ryan Seacrest actually sounds butch next to some of these guys.
Gay friends have already emailed me “fan fiction” depicting a love affair between David Archuleta and Jason Castro that isn’t exactly blog friendly. LOL. That said, Jason’s was my favorite performance last night (minus the cheesy intro). I’ve always loved this song (though Damien Leith covered it better on Australian Idol last year).He needs to cut the stoner act though. It will get old, just like David Archuleta’s giggling.
Is Santa Claus a rapist?? Ask Danny Noriega:
Congratulations to my friend Steve who finished the LA marathon this weekend (his first). Here are some of my photos from Canh’s marathon:

In a decade from now, the cultural landscape of America will change. Other religions and cultures will assert themselves. I hope people will embrace this change and understand why diversity is healthy and important.
but would danny noriega out gay christian Siriano? iono, but i think ryan Seacrest my try make them into his sex slave and drive to the closest porn shop for a double sided dildo… :oX
BETTER YET! maybe christian can make danny some singing outfits for idol… that be fierce. lol
Hmm. Or we could vote for Cynthia McKinney and get a black woman president! Ok maybe in my dreamworld but man that would be great. Meanwhile, I think it’s funny how people still ask me, are you voting for Obama or Clinton. Um, I already voted!! There’s no more option … for us anyway. It’s all other states and superdelegates and whatever other voodoo there is that goes into the DNC choosing their candidate. The options are going to be the Democratic candidate or McCain or any of a handful of other presidential hopefuls not aligned with either of the CCP’s (Corporate Controlled Parties).
What are you talking about, get rid of Amanda?!?! She rocks! Whatever, I guess American Idol is not about rocking, but about … what … middle of the roading? (and I don’t mean that in a bad way).
@sethrocker - oh, and yeah, the “Moslem” word thing. I once tried to counter a neo-con in my family with the argument that using the incorrect term only diminishes the argument, but he proceeded to find “Moslem” in the dictionary, which also somehow gave him the ammunition to criticize my use of Wikipedia as a resource. Ugh. As if a self-regulating source of information with thousands of contributors (or more?) is somehow more weak than a corporate owned (compromised) for-profit spin-house. It’s a losing battle so I’m sticking to the positive side of things.
@ElusiveWords - What makes you think this will happen in a decade? Do you know something we don’t?
@Sc12EeN17aM3 - Jad, I want to see Christian and Danny act out your drunken scenes from last weekend. LOL
@sethrocker - Seth, Cynthia McKinney??? Amanda Overymyer??? Are you crazy?? You’ve been living with females far too long. You and Garbo need some male role models. UGH! Regarding the Moslem thing, the hyperlink I have there is kind of interesting.
wouldn’t it be nice if we could have a political race based on real issues? i’m not a reality tv fan, but i did like that clip – that is a pretty song. sun and warmth……i just looked out the window to see more snow falling. welcome back – peace, Al
Wow, this season of American Idol sounds pretty interesting. I don’t really follow American Idol anymore nor I watch much of TV nowadays. =(
they hand moist sponges @ the LA marathon? that’s so cool.
i think both of them (american idol) are pretty good.
Your American Idol analysis is hilarious.
ryc: I think Clinton and Obama can make a ticket work, it just takes the will to make it happen.
@pukemeister - Spring’s just around the corner.
@MRNICKLEPICKLE - The guys aren’t bad this year :)
@MaximMan - I’ll call you when I need a tire change.
@vsan79 - Good, or cute?
@jiazhousarcasmo - I wonder if they do make it work, if it would be a winning ticket. They’re both controversial for different reasons.
I hate to say it but I’m afraid republicans are going to win it again. I don’t think America will vote for a female or a minority president.
@NDM - Bite your tongue Andy! At least not a lot of Republicans are thrilled with McCain
@CareyGLY - Do you think Amanda is a bad singer? I think she’s great. She’s authentic and unique and she rocks. Regarding Cynthia McKinney, I urge you to take a look at the Ten Key Values of the Green Party and tell me what you don’t agree with, and then take a look at this questionnaire and tell me she’s not qualified. I’m sure you’ll conclude I’m not crazy :). Sure, I understand a third party has a slim chance of being able to win the presidential race, but that is not as it should be. The system is broken in more ways than one. On a large scale, what exactly will Clinton or Obama change? They’re both beholden to corporate interests, they’ve both endorsed the idea of sanctions against Iran (haven’t we already been down that road with Iraq?). I would prefer either of them over Bush and over McCain, obviously, but in the grand scheme of things it will be a small win unless they can really break from the establishment and even from their party, which is essentially Republican-lite these days. I mean, how are we better off since having a Democratically controlled congress?
@sethrocker - Yes, Amanda’s voice gets on my last nerve.
I’ll look at the stuff, thanks. All I know about McKinney, is that she got arrested for being a little crazy!
CareyGLY : the hats u were wearing is super cool . it is made out what type of material ?
@CareyGLY - Cynthia McKinney was harassed for attempting to enter her place of work. As a United States Representative with 6 terms I think I would be pissed off too if some security dweeb tried to apprehend me. Then the media ran with it because they benefit from running with stories that defocus the important issues. They succeeded in pushing someone who fights for truth even further to the fringes where she will have less of a chance of success with her agenda items which are in the interests of the people of this country as opposed to the major corporations who benefit from the war, the broken healthcare industry, and government and media complicity and corruption. She is one of the people in government who is truly there for the right reasons and doing it in a way that does not compromise her standards. This of course makes her a target. In a way that is crazy, but not in the way you’re suggesting. In another way, it’s far more sane than the approach many of the other politicians take, repeatedly compromising their values in order to have a couple more years in office where they can compromise their values even further.
This whole thing begs the question, was marginalizing Cynthia McKinney a calculated move on their part? By they I’m talking about the select few who own the media conglomerates and who also own many arms of the war machine and the most “popular” political candidates. If it were an isolated incident I might be convinced that “oh, they’re just doing what they do and running the shock value stories” but this kind of thing happens every single day. The important stories are buried or contradicted while the substance-free stories are plastered across the headlines.
For example, Kucinich talking about a UFO was spotlighted by the media, and even Bill Maher joked about his pointy ears in that context (funny, but nonetheless ridiculous, considering that’s supposed to be a political show!!). Meanwhile, where were the articles discussing his policies and platform? For that matter, it’s difficult to find a story of any substance talking about Clinton or Obama. Now the discussion is only about who can beat a republican, a woman or a black man, not their policies (which mind you are intentionally obfuscated to attract the most voters). For the first leg of the campaign practically every news story was about their campaign finance and who had more money! How much more blatant does it have to get? The thing that gets you into office is not what you stand for but other people’s money! Take a look at opensecrets.org for a bit and you’ll see what I’m talking about.
PS: You’ll have to endure Amanda for at least another round – lol.
obama btw!
i noticed that the jeff buckley version was on the top ten for the itunes list — this must have been the reason why. he started it well in the beginning, but it just got weak towards the end.
anyways, haven’t been catching up on a.i. since i’ve been in korea, but with all the drama from last year and sparks not doing so well, i think the show needs something to get it feeling inspired again.
you ever see that opera dude on the uk’s got talent? that was pretty inspiring.
How is American Idol STILL on? I keep asking that and I stay astounded.
@infinitysurfer - Funny…I was commenting to you at the exact second you were commenting to me
Kismet?
Very interesting costomes to suport the marathon run! I bet he noticed your guys from miles away!
were you guys the only ones wearing costumes for the marathon? seems too festive for a regular marathon event. or was it just another excuse for partying it up?
@rudyhou - Well, we wanted him to recognize us on while he was running…and it worked. But of course, partying it up is always fun
@ClumsyG - Yeah, I keep thinking Idol here will go the way of Pop Idol in Britain and become the X-Factor. Leona Lewis is probably the equivalent of a Kelly Clarkson or Carrie Underwood (though I think she’s better than both of them). People love rags to riches stories. That formula will always work.
@sethrocker - I stand corrected. McKinney in ’12!!
If Amanda becomes the Idol though, I’m moving to Canada. LOL
@aizzat - Thanks :) They’re just made out of foam rubber from a craft store.
@ibizajb - I watched Borat last weekend for the first time, and almost peed my pants when I saw the green “bathing suit”. I thought of you
Hey, glad I could join a little bit of the discussion of this year’s American Idol~ haha…actually I finally watched the 12 finalist episode when I was on my biz trip in BKK, wow, forced by someone special :). Not sure if Paula’s rite about the most talented year, but definitely the gayest and hottest year :P
@coolblueszone - Forced by someone special huh? Do tell! I want details!!
