  • Key Fees & Feces

Honda Update:  They towed it away (again) yesterday.  In keeping with the funny tradition of photographing all of the tow truck drivers who have visited me the past five months, this one was a pleasant surprise!  He brought his kid with him, and he was a real pistol.  We hit it off immediately, and his father asked me if I wanted to keep him.  LOL.

Today, Honda of Hollywood called to say that the reason it wasn’t starting was because of the key!  I switched keys this weekend, and apparently there’s a microchip in the Honda keys, that needs to be programmed when the engine is taken out.  So, they’re reprogramming my key and making me a new 2nd one (waiving the fees of course!).  After that, they need to drive the car for 50 miles at 50 miles per hour so it can pass the electrical portion of the smog check!  Ugh.  Hopefully I’ll get it back tomorrow, as Claudio is arriving back from Brazil at noon and Lisa is coming back from Hawaii at midnight!  That means two trips to the airport tomorrow and two less cars in my garage!  That also means, I’ll have two less dogs at the Hotel Careyfornia/Pet Motel/Parking Garage/Airport Shuttle.  I’m going to miss Shadow & Oreo a lot.  They’re good snuggle buddies at night.  Speaking of Oreo, he had a little accident yesterday in the house.  It was my fault, because I knew he didn’t go #2 in the morning when I walked them, but I had an early meeting and had to cut our walk short.  The poor little guy couldn’t hold it, and my shoe and my carpet paid the price.  He felt really bad, as this photo will attest.  Warning:  If you’re easily grossed out, don’t look!

I didn’t yell at him, honest.  He just knew!  LOL   At any rate, it gave me a good excuse to rent a Rug Doctor and clean my living room rug, which needed it anyway!

The day got better though when Vivek and I had dinner in Koreatown (Mmmm, bibimbap!) to celebrate his new internship, and I took a few shots around the neighborhood by his new office:

Tonight we had tickets to a free screening of a movie called “Trouble the Water” at the Sunset 5.  It won the Grand Jury prize this year at Sundance.  It was a documentary about Hurricane Katrina from the producers of Fahrenheit 9/11.  As an added bonus, the producers were there, along with the couple whose story the movie told.  They all held a Q&A session after the film and it was really interesting.  I strongly recommend this movie.  It opens in LA and New York on August 22nd and many other cities shortly after.  Click here for showtimes and support this great film!

Kim Rivers Roberts and Scott Roberts

Like many filmmakers after Hurricane Katrina, Lessin and Deal wanted to chronicle
this historic event. Originally they had targeted the National Guard
troops that were returning to Fort Polk from Baghdad in order to assist
in the clean up. But military red tape proved too much for them. Ready
to give up, the two started volunteering at a local shelter, when their
    story found them.
Kimberly Rivers Roberts approached the filmmakers with video footage
that she had shot during the hurricane. The filmmakers realized that
Roberts experience, captured on a $20 second-hand video camera, showed
more about what had happened to the people of the 9th ward than they
could ever hope to capture. Returning with Kimberly and her husband
Scott to the devastation of their neighborhood, Lessin and Deal
captured the second part of their journey, seamlessly editing their
footage with Robert’s video, to create a remarkable story of two
survivors, a story that would win them a Grand Jury Prize in
    Documentary.

  • The Honda saga continues. :(   Five months? Glad you have the patience, I would have thrown the keys at them. (Anger control, anger control, Steve, hehe)    It seems you are magnet to cute kids as always!  The dog is cute too, but, mmm, what a mess.  When I was reading, back in my mind, I was kind of worried that you might invite us to help clean your carprt, lol.  If you have considered, please dis-invite me, hehe.
