  • Blindfolded Eating & Cubing and a New Year’s Concert on the Shore

I haven’t had much time to blog, so here’s a vlog to start the year.  On New Year’s Eve, Roin, Jack & Lucie, the kids at our party, wanted to make a video of me, blindfolded, eating unknown foods that they prepared!  The adults supervised to make sure they didn’t poison or hurt me (Tabasco Sauce on the apple was vetoed), but other that that, the little rugrats had run of the kitchen.  They were nice enough to have the foresight to provide me a barf bag, LOL.  Why I agreed to let them do this, is still a new year’s mystery.  The foods I ate were:

    1) Lettuce, Pickle & Peanut Butter
    2) Apple Juice & Lime Juice
    3) Apple & Salsa
    4) Tztziki & Orange
    5) Sausage, Chocolate & Cranberry

My worst reaction was to #4.  I really hate white and creamy foods, and it shows!! LOL.  (I suspect that Eva, who knows my disinclination towards anything creamy, had a hand in #4.  Vicious!)

After that, as it still wasn’t midnight and since they were kids at an adult party, I showed them a bunch of videos of Tyson and Macky solving the Rubik’s Cube, blindfolded and juggling respectively.  They thought it was a trick and didn’t believe that the videos were real. So I sent Tyson, who had just finished ringing in the New Year with friends in Boston, an instant message. He was nice enough to solve the Cube for them on the webcam, in less than 20 seconds. Needless to say, they were amazed. Thanks Tyson! Happy New Year!

Here are a few more photos from yesterday and today.  The rest can be viewed here.

That could almost be a painting behind them!

Facebook finally has a video embedding option, so here are a few more videos from the past two days.  This first one shows a little musical performance on New Year’s Day, led by 3 year old Patrick.  The second one shows Tom & Cathy’s backyard tonight at sunset when it got very cold and windy!  I’ll compile a few more after I get home.  Does anyone know a free and easy to use alternative to Windows Movie Maker for the PC?

  • Will check the videos later, but that photo! It does look like a painting behind them! Beautiful!

  • @Dezinerdreams - The photos don’t look as good when I shrink them for Xanga.  They look a lot better on the Picasa slideshow.  Happy New Year!

  • @reckless_eagle - There’s something about the first and last sunset of the year…especially when you’re on the edge of a continent.  So beautiful.  Thank you!  Happy New Year!
@pukemeister - That should have been the title of this post!  A glutton for punishment indeed.  Thanks

  • What a great way to see in 2009 with a sunset!

  • You are so brave to let the kids blindfold you while you were asked to eat ‘ stuff ‘. I love it. May be I should have done that instead of dressing up as Santa. ha ha ha.

What a breathtakingly beautiful view of the ocean from the windows!!. I am sure they never would want to go anywhere for any vacation. Its all there for them.

  • eva & patrick in the jacuzzi that sunglasses were quite the attraction.
    loved the enchanted forest.
i still don’t know who you did that blind taste testing. i couldn’t have done it. UGH!

  • The place you stayed at looks so nice.  Was it rented?

I would have put some raw oysters, sea cucumber, pork kidneys, beef tongue, chicken heart for you to try!  hee hee….

  • Happy New Year!!  Hope u dont mind me, just stopping by.  What a great way to spend the New Year’s eve  =)  Beautiful pictures!!!

Most of these video editing tools are free and in ranking order by user rating’s. VirtualDub et al and TMPGEnc are powerful video processing tools, but for simple cutting/joining AviDemux or Mpg2Cut2 are probably more adequate. Check the compatibility of your video source before you install a program.

Tzatziki+Orange… yikes! That’s a picture that will stay with me for quite a while… ;)

  • o-m-g u trying to figure out the food SO HILARIOUS!

@razzlebash - Thanks.  I love how the sunglasses reflected in the windos of the house.  It was a pretty night!  Bon Ano Novo!
@ElusiveWords - I’ll never let you blindfold me then!!  Nope, my friends live there.  One of the fringe benefits of discovering a galaxy and making the cover of National Geographic!
@Ratinha - Thank you.  Your son is beautiful.  I’m glad he had a nice Christmas.
    @stevew918 - Thanks Steve.
