The Dog Days of Summer
Lisa & Joel went to the Angels game tonight so I picked Tommy & Andy up at soccer practice. It was still over 90° at 5:30 and Tommy was so hot, but a real trooper. It was his first soccer practice, and I’m scared he may have too many of my genes because at one point they were practicing stopping the ball with their feet and when Tommy stopped it the coach said, “OK, hold it”. So Tommy proceeded to pick up the ball and hold it. I don’t know much about soccer at all, but I’m guessing that wasn’t what the coach meant, LOL. Afterward we went to the new Sonic, and it was really good. I had a Diet Cherry Limeaid, which was quite refreshing in the heat. The dog days of summer are clearly upon us. It’s usually not this hot in California! When we got back to Dar’s the boys and I took Buster & Roxy for a long walk. Luckily there were no sacrifices involved:
The Dog Days originally were the days when Sirius, the Dog Star, rose just before or at the same time as sunrise (heliacal rising), which is no longer true, owing to precession of the equinoxes. The Romans sacrificed a brown dog at the beginning of the Dog Days to appease the rage of Sirius, believing that the star was the cause of the hot, sultry weather.
Dog Days were popularly believed to be an evil time “when the seas boiled, wine turned sour, dogs grew mad, and all creatures became languid, causing to man burning fevers, hysterics, and phrensies” according to Brady’s Clavis Calendarium, 1813.The boys are now sleeping (with Buster) and I figured I’d write a quick blog. There’s absolutely nothing interesting going on in the world right now. Aside from Ted Kennedy overload and the “murdered model” media mayhem. Ugh. I just read that they found her car in the Trader Joe’s parking lot 3 block from my house. I’m glad I wasn’t there today for that zoo.

You’ve run into Dustin Lance Black?! Wow!!!
That murdered model story is really disturbing. It doesn’t sound real, you know? It’s like something written for CSI, turning this tragedy into a circus. I don’t need to know about a dead woman’s implants!
Hehe, now you’ll hear never ending stories about the car at that TJ’s… forever! Happy shopping. ;D
Thanks Johnny…I love people who actually click the links I take the time to make! Yep, Chazz and I met Dustin Lance Black outside that Trader Joe’s last spring, before his infamous “sex scandal”. And you’re right, that parking lot is probably going to be infamous now. I’ve actually been avoiding the news about that, as it’s so surreal, but I wonder if that guy was actually there with her so close to where I always shop. Then again, it seems every other person you see in West Hollywood is on a reality show. CSI indeed.

that diet drink sounds soooo good – wish we had one here. experienced Sonic almost 30 years ago when i was in Mississippi on business – they were always great eating! the kids are cute as always – enjoy them, they grow so fast. send some of your heat east! – i had to wear a jacket to the football game last night! peace, Al
Oh my gosh he looks sun burnt!!! :P
Oh and that model story sent shivers up my spine.
” Her teeth were pulled out and her fingers cut off ” , I wonder what he wanted to do, burn her?
Wow, that murder story really hits home eh? What a crazy event.
The football story is so cute!
The model murder news on the other hand is extremely disturbing! Body was identified with the help of breast implant serial number? Crazy!
@mr_faust - That’s because you’re a big kid!
@pukemeister - Just think your leaves will be changing soon! How cool!!
@Loltothepower - He actually stuffed her body in a suitcase and threw it in a dumpster. Kinda creepy that he was so close to where I live.
@Roadlesstaken - Yeah, I know…but I do think the media is sensationalizing it, because the guy is on a dumb reality show.
@Dezinerdreams - Thanks Vivek. Have a good weekend.
@CareyGLY - NOT!
The pictures are fantastic. I love the one of the boys zonked out on the bed. Yeah hold the ball in soccer doesn’t mean what you and I think. Learnt that from my son’t soccer practices eons ago.
@ZSA_MD - Awww, thanks so much. I know how much we both love the little kids in our lives!!
that kid is overly burned! bet he’s complaining of the itchy flaky skin the next day.
@rudyhou - It was more just overheated…he actually was fine once he cooled down :)
