One Year Ago Today A Crusade Against Imbecility Began
Exactly one year ago today, the world was a different place. No one knew whether a black man could become President of the United States. A pot free Michael Phelps was the toast of America. Michael Jackson
was still sleeping (alive) with little boys. And that morning, one year ago today, 99.9% of Americans did not know who the governor of Alaska was. Exactly one year ago today, I sat in front of my
television and watched as John McCain took the stage in Ohio with a pretty woman (who looked like Tina Fey) and her admittedly telegenic family. With my laptop appropriately on my lap I googled a name I had never heard before, Sarah Palin. I found out she was still breast feeding her 4 month old son with special needs. I found out she was a former beauty queen (runner up) with a questionable educational past. I found out she was a radical gun freak with no comprehension of the Second Amendment. And I found out that she was a religious whack job that made George W. Bush look like a heathen. I even surmised that she liked the TV shows Charmed & Buffy (supernatural though they may be), as that could be the only explanation for her oddly named brood of white trash babies, Trig, Track, Bristol, Willow and Piper. I discovered all this within 10 minutes of learning her name, and a yearlong crusade began. Of course at the time I did not know that her preaching of abstinence had fallen upon deaf ears in her own household, as her 17 year old daughter was pregnant with yet another redneck bastard. I did not know that she couldn’t even name a newspaper she had ever read. I did not know she would be crippled by 19 ethics scandals. And I did not know that she could see Russia from her back yard. In short she was, and still is, an incoherent mess! Oh, and she birthed Michael Jackson’s son Blanket! Some people have suggested that I rename my blog:
“Kids, Dogs, Sunsets & Sarah Palin“
and the occasional rant against corporate America
Admittedly, in the past 365 days I have devoted 19 blog entries to educating the world about this dangerous right wing nutjob in designer glasses. Starting with my pronouncement that Barack Obama would win the presidency, 30 minutes after I heard the news about Sarah Palin being selected as John McCain’s running mate; and continuing with my blog being the first to note that the Alaska Daily News couldn’t even spell John McCain’s name right the day of the announcement and that Sarah held some eerie parallels to the equally idiotic Miss Teen South Carolina. A year ago today I wrote:Friday, August 29, 2008
Palin & pal, Yogi8/29/08 – John “McClain” as the “Alaska Daily News” called him, must really not want to be president. (See below, just above the second biggest story in the state of Alaska today, “Grizzly Attacks Woman in Tent“**. Incidentally, John McCain is 22 year older than the state of Alaska, LOL.) Call me a sexist pig, but I don’t think most of America is ready for a woman who’s still breastfeeding her four month old baby, to be a heartbeat away from the presidency, should McCain (who will be 76 if he makes it to the end of a first term) kick the bucket. Sarah Palin and her five kids, Trig, Track, Bristol, Willow and Piper (I kid you not. Someone’s been watching Charmed & Buffy too much) is the best thing that ever happened to Barack Obama. Oh, and she pronounces “nuclear” just like George W. Bush (nucular). As a former beauty queen, I wonder if Sarah Palin knows Miss Teen South Carolina? Maybe they could compare notes on “The Iraq”. “US Americans”, get ready for President Obama!
From the Alaska Daily News on 8/29/08 before they corrected their website.**Too bad Sarah wasn’t there, she’s an avid hunter and would have shot the grizzly! What kind of governor are you Sarah?? Leaving innocent women to fend off bears while you travel to the mainland to hob nob with the Washington elite!
Governor Palin even checked into a hotel last week under the name “Upton”, the same unfortunate name as Miss Teen South Carolina. Coincidence?? Read more….
And following throughout the last year with:Will I continue my crusade? You betcha! Not until Sarah and her brood of misfits step off the national stage, will I stop calling attention to her idiocy. In his book, “Why Obama Won“, Greg Mitchell posits that:After months of trailing, McCain came out of his convention with a bump that led to at least a tie with Obama in the polls — then he plummeted very quickly as the truth about Palin seeped out. In addition, he had lost his chief calling card: an edge in experience on Obama. A week after the GOP convention ended, polls were already showing (as many of us, if not most MSM pundits, had predicted) that, if anything, women thought less of Palin than did men. And surveys continued to show that while she drew crowds she actually drove more people away from the GOP than toward it. In fact, it’s a myth that Palin was broadly “popular.”Imagine if McCain had picked even a neutral figure such as a Pawlenty or, say, Kay Bailey Hutchison. Yes, Obama likely still would have won (he ran a fine campaign and the economy collapsed). But if McCain hadn’t picked Palin, it would have been in a real nail biter. And Tina Fey would not have been named entertainer of the year, and we wouldn’t have had that turkey slaughtering video to enjoy.
That said, she’s still a dangerous radical who must never hold national political office. The fate of the world is at stake! Do you really want this moronic whack job anywhere near the White House or the “nucular” codes?? I know name calling detracts from my argument, but I’ve been hanging around with my 5 & 8 year old boy cousins boys all week and name calling feels good! Sarah Palin is a poopyhead!!!!

hahaha the juno one is funny. how time flies so fast! have a good weeeknd carey =)
yup, OCD! lol peace, Al
How well I remember.
But, Carey, may be we shouldn’t “eulogize” her and bring her out in the world of internet any more. People like her should just be buried and forgotten.
i LOVE that suggested new blog title.
she’s an idiot and it’s discouraging that i live in a country that would have the likes of her as a potential vice president.
A very opinionated and at the same time factual work of yours – I like it.
With
one exception: It is one thing to throw down the hammer on Sarah Palin,
who is actively in politics. Even her husband is fair game, since he
inserted himself into Alaskan politics by use of his wife’s Governor
Office, without being elected himself into a public office.
But
“…as her 17 year old daughter was pregnant with yet another redneck
bastard…”!? and “…brood of white trash babies…”!?
It is quite another thing to rope in her children and babies and even by way of name-calling into your
political campaign – the only reason being that Sarah Palin is their mother In my opinion, continuing to do so will only hurt your factual work part.
I don’t like name calling but people have a right to do such.
As
to Palin’s children, she chose to use her kids as political tools. They
only proper time to have young children on the political stage was when
she was nominated and during her concession speech, perhaps other
limited occasions.
Instead she was constantly seen holding her very young child at many rallies. She created the situation for criticism.
@David - @Tom - The name calling just feels good…it’s a way to express my disgust. It
may cheapen my argument, but I’ve been hanging around 5 and 8 year old
boys all week And good point Tom about the kids…I do feel she
brought that upon herself by using them as props!
@pukemeister - Hardly!
@aliceandrandy - Too fast! You too
@ZSA_MD - Maybe, but I wouldn’t have to talk about her if she didn’t keep making stupid statements about death panels and Glenn Beck! :) Thanks!!
@curtainsopen - Thanks! Have a good weekend.
You made some points there with your exhaustive blogs on Sarah Palin. She’s not the perfect woman, and but hey, the US is chockfull of train wrecks! Just tune in to Oprah, Tyra and other hanky-wringing talk shows.
@Cultur3sh0x - Point taken…none of those people on the talk shows have the desire to be in the White House! :)
I don’t want to say anything about Palin- I am just so tired of hearing about her. Having said that I love the juno spoof, the video and “poopyhead’! haha
@Tom “She created the situation for criticism.”
I agree. Palin’s political use of her children – inappropriate and made
them open to attacks. Still, calling them “a brood of white trash
babies” and “another redneck bastard” doesn’t serve any criticism.”
@Dezinerdreams - I’m tired of hearing about her too…if she would just shut her pie hole I could stop blogging about her and go back to dogs, kids & sunsets.

@David - I use the terms redneck & white trash with the greatest of affection!! LOL
White trash and redneck are synonymous and fairly common albeit derogatory terms for hicks like them.
And technically, that baby IS a bastard!!
I thought you got her out of your system… me thinks you need to go to Palin Anonymous. I hear they have a wonderful 7 step program.
@ElusiveWords - I had to mark the Palinversary somehow!
My concern with your tirade on Sarah Palin is about
your opinions about her background. The things she believes in are not
abnormal to a large percentage of the population. For one she attended
five universities (colleges), I attended four does that put me or any other
person who attended multiple colleges unintelligent? She believes in the
2nd Amendment, or the right to bear arms. The founding fathers of our
nation felt this to be so strong that they put it just below the right to free
speech and religion. You question her religious convictions, the majority of the
world believe in Judeo-Christian values, so are they all fanatics or “whack
jobs?” Would you be knocking her religious beliefs if she were a Muslim
who believed in the Jihad and wanted to exterminate the Western World?
Many young people get pregnant at a young age including my mother-in-law, does
this make her or her parents bad people? She clearly has faults as we all
do. After looking at your dislike of her it appears to me that her faults
are thesame faults as many of the people on this Earth. So I say if you
are going to be critical of her actions you need to be critical of all people
who have these similar flaws.
@Joel - I respectfully disagree. The fact that she was running to be a
heartbeat away from the presidency of the United States, means that all
of the things I am criticizing her for are fair game. Her beliefs, her
education (or lack thereof), her radical religious ideas
(superstitions), her maniacal misunderstanding of the Second Amendment,
her hypocritical family values…all dangerous, all fair game. If she
held a position of power (indeed the most powerful position on earth),
it could be the end of the world as we know it.
@Joel -
“You question her religious convictions, the majority of the world believe in Judeo-Christian values, so are they all fanatics or “whack jobs?”
- I’m a Christian and I think she’s quite radical in her religious views. In every religion there is a broad spectrum of “believers”. From liberal to moderate to radical. Don’t put me with Palin in one pot!
“Many young people get pregnant at a young age including my mother-in-law, does this make her or her parents bad people?”
- No, certainly not. But if you staunchly promote “Abstinence” as one cornerstone of your political profile with the aim to become Vice-President and your unmarried teenage daughter gets pregnant – that begs the question of political credibility. What in my eyes made her “bad” though in this context, was, how she handled the situation. First, she tried to hide her daughter’s pregnancy (which itself is quite an incompetent decision to make – how can you hide a pregnancy?), then she continued to publicly promote “Abstinence” while demanding privacy for her own abstinence failure. Instead of explaining and being honest about it and for example say that her daughter made a mistake (or similiar), but that as a mother she still loved and supported her, despite her political believe in Abstinence, she never confronted this issue. This is not credibility.
“…it appears to me that her faults are thesame faults as many of the people on this Earth.”
- But only one aimed for the Vice-Presidency and is now aiming for the presidency that together with her faults could shape US politics.
I was open minded when Palin stepped onto the national poilitical stage. But the more I read about her the more I felt uneasy about her. Her political and religious views aside, she was involved in too many scandals in how she treated people who dared to disagree with her and how she misued her political power. The sheer number of ethical related scandals says it all. And her interviews with Gibson and Couric showed me how utterly intellectually incompetent Palin was and is for any presidency.
Though I do not share Carey’s language on Palin, I do share his fear of Palin becoming POTUS.
