  • Yes We Will – Count On It

    I had a disturbing conversation with someone yesterday who basically told me they still cannot believe America will elect a black president.  “How could they?”  This person still thinks McCain can win.  This person is one of the most intelligent people I know, and clearly one of the most racist.  How can someone so smart be so woefully misinformed?  It’s like the Jesus freaks who think “Yes on 8” will “protect” marriage.  Protect it from what??  I’m so tired of arguing with ignorance.  A week from right now, I guess we’ll know.  It can’t come soon enough.  Both Jon Stewart and Steven Colbert summed it up perfectly last night.  These are both worth watching until the end if you haven’t seen them.

  • Seeing as I’m a greenie, I can’t vote – but I’m so sick of this election.  Pleeeease, let it be over already!  I want to stop hearing about it every single fucking day.  I mean, I think it’s great that everyone’s so enthusiastic about voting and change is necessary and all that good stuff.  But I can’t stand the rivalry, how everyone’s writing about it, and all the political debates everywhere.  It’s good that people are taking part in voicing their opinions..but at the same time, there’s too much of it everywhere and it’s overwhelmingly frustrating that I can’t vote, I suppose. [/rant]

    Also, living in NC…you wouldn’t believe the number of people who don’t want Obama to win because he isn’t white.  It’s so saddening.  Then again, there’s all the people who want Obama to win solely because of his skin colour, and that saddens me as well.  I was flipping through channels a few weeks ago and stopped on CNN when I saw this headline: “Black Republicans”.  What, they think that’s an oxymoron or something?

    Those videos were great haha.  I need to start watching both shows again.

  • @torontobabyblue - LOL, it’s funny you say that.  As I’m reading this, there’s a bit on the Daily Show right now by Wyatt Cenak about how sick of this all he is.  It will be on comedycentral.com tomorrow, so you should check it out.  BTW, what’s a greenie?  Someone who has a green card?

  • @CareyGLY - Yep, I’m originally from Canada (as the username suggests)…and all I have right now is a green card.  I tried (and failed) in making it sound cooler than it is.

  • I’m not racist and I’m gonna vote McCain.

    I welcome a more intellectual debate with you.

  • Righto , I’ll be watching intently from New Zealand on who’s gonna be the next president of the US :D Lmao I dont really get politics and have no say in this but I’m glad you’re healthy! :D Hows life been treating you? BTW carey…purple monkey dishwasher! Have a goood day ( Im really hyper! :P )

  • @torontobabyblue - If Sarah Palin ever became president, I would consider moving to Canada!
    @davidngo - I’m sure you know that I wasn’t implying that anyone who is voting for McCain is racist, David.  I was only referring to a specific individual, who’s real reason for not voting for Obama is because he’s black.  Besides, I know you well enough to know exactly why you’re voting for McCain, and I suspect this latest round of socialism talk has delighted you.  I’m not a good debater, and you would blow me away in any debate.  Plus I know we think very very differently about politics.  That said, I hope you’ll consider voting No on 8.
    @Loltothepower - Thanks Jin.  LIfe is treating me very well.  Orange Tiger Washing Machine.

  • yeah, bigotry is an amazing thing – a disease that grafts itself to any and all comers – rich and poor, black and white – well you know what i mean.  i kinda wish my dad was still alive for this election – a racist from WAY back who only voted for one republican – a governor – in his entire life – sure would be interesting to see his reaction to the ballot this year!  great vids.  peace, Al

  • What do you think will change this ignorance?

  • I think there is not only ignorance but also stupidity on both sides (and a lot of it).  I know who I will vote for but it has nothing to do with the color of skin or the sex of the candidates!  I am SO VERY ready for this election to be over with.  This has become extremely tiring.

  • I am really curious to see the outcome!

  • speaking of which…

    there was this open debate about prop 8 on campus the other day. wasnt in a classroom but near the this outside stage…

    and damn it got really heated. campus police had to come and kinda break it up LOL

    i could of heard this yes on 8 guy screaming on the top of his lungs where i was sitting way off away at the campus deli…

  • Hi Carey. Miss you, thought I would stop by today. I’m so ready for this election to be over and very excited to vote. People in my area are getting increasingly emotional. I never thought I would meet anyone who believed the whole Muslim/Terrorist thing (I guess I am truly naive) but came across TWO people this last week who were so misinformed I still cant believe it. WTF. I’m so excited for a change and am so enthuiastic that the rest of the country is getting on board.

  • @pukemeister - Wise words.  Thanks
    @ElusiveWords - I hope that a successful Obama administration will!
    @bowzere - And I respect YOUR reasons!
    @ibizajb - LOL WTF?
    @Dezinerdreams - Too bad you’re leaving NYC before the election!
    @Sc12EeN17aM3 - You should have got that on video for your Xanga!
    @cshetrone - I miss you too.  Can hardly wait for Sundance!  Kiss the little guy for me. xo  Oh and make sure you show Sadie my last post:

  • That photo is funny ;)

    It is sad to hear about people who believe that someone with a different skin color should not be president.

  • I’m with you!!  Once the rest of my generation is out of the way, the colors can combine and appear as one.  There are still a few diehards that won’t let go of the old ways of thinking.  How sad!

  • @sethrocker - Sad indeed!  See you next week.
    @fratmom - LOL, I’m glad you don’t define your generation

  • @CareyGLY - LOL i should of…

    and nope. thanx for the offer. i have friends out of town who got hotels. we.ll be crashing at the London ^_^

  • oh and what are u going to be?

  • I totally agree with everything you said.

    It gets so tiring debating. I’m done with it. We’ll just see who wins.

  • @Sc12EeN17aM3 - I sent you an email of what I was going to be
    @suez_site - I agree!  Thanks!

  • i am not an american, nor do i live there but i still think there’s good in having a so-called “minority” as president.  time has changed and so must the way of thinking.  i’m quite surprised that of all states, you have to hear it in CA.  i though CA is the most liberal state in the country.

  • @rudyhou - Actually, the person who said that wasn’t in California Rudy.

  • ok, then.  from east coast or the midwest maybe??
