  • Dolphins, Home Depot and Condoleezza Rice

After ringing in the New Year in grand style, we took the weekend to relax a bit.  Home Depot has this great kid’s workshop the first Saturday of every month, so Cathy & I took Patrick.  I wasn’t much help building, but as always I took the photos.  The sunset was spectacular on Saturday and on Sunday I drove the six hours home to get here in time for Ryan’s birthday party.  Lorenzo & Adam flew in from DC, and we all celebrated at Palms Thai.  I’m currently curled up on the couch with Chazz, eating popcorn and relaxing for the first time since before Christmas.  Here are some of my favorite photos and two videos from the past few days.  Have a great week everyone!  Happy New Year.

We celebrated New Year’s first with the kids at 8:23, because we forgot to at 8:00.  They didn’t know the difference!

Except the dog and my weight!

    A rare quiet moment

    I like this photo

Yesterday during breakfast, a pod of dolphins swam by to say goodbye!

  • What a beautiful place and so many kids around, awesome way to start the new year. Happy New Year Carey!

PS: Did you guys have to spend a whole day cleaning up the mess?

  • @Dezinerdreams - Actually the cleanup went pretty fast.  We all have our jobs…I kept the kids occupied, LOL   Happy New Year Vivek.

  • @CareyGLY - Thanks a lot, Carey. I can’t say the same for you, though. 2010 is going to be a fantabulous year for you!

@ElusiveWords - Yeah, it really never gets old.  Happy New Year Matt.

  • Wow, that really is a neat program for Home Depot to have. Awesome, fun pictures as always.

P.S. I just applied for an assistant editor position at The Daily Beast in L.A. You don’t happen to know anybody who works there, do you? (I like to assume you know everybody in Los Angeles.)

  • Nice sunsets. You have a “pi” sweatshirt? What a geek! hahaha

I see from your “football” picture that you must be British or one of the 6 billion people not from america.I didn’t know HD had kid building programs. That’s neat!ryc: I would not have guessed that you knew any vietnamese people. Honestly, I thought you were as white as can be. White guy, white family, white friends, white picket fence. hehehe

  • @c_est_la_vie_mon_amie - I’m not just a geek, I’m a Super Geek!  i.e. Pi sweatshirt AND a Superman cap.  LOL.  And, I’m actually as American (white bread) as they come, but I date Asian guys and thus have many Asian friends. I’ve also spent a lot of time in Asia…all over the world actually.  Went to the World Cup in Germany a few years ago too (http://careygly.xanga.com/601941058/independence–doggie-ear-plugs/), and though hardly a “sportsman” or even a fan, I have enough global friends and readers to know that soccer is really football!

  • @wherethefishlives - Wow, that’s awesome!  I don’t know anyone at The Beast, unless you count Meghan McCain who I met once at a party, but doesn’t know me from Adam, LOL.  I’ll keep my ears open for you though!  Good luck!

  • That was A LOT of bottles in your kitchen.  You even have Hotel Careyfornia drinks?!

  • @Roadlesstaken - That’s not my kitchen.  I was in San Francisco (like you), Pacifica to be exact.  And yes, The Hotel Careyfornia has it’s own wine

  • @CareyGLY - Thanks! Unfortunately, I received an automated email from The Beast saying the position had been filled, but they would keep my app on file. Today, I applied to 944 magazine for a Marketing & PR Assistant, so we’ll see how that goes.

  • @smartsandyboy - Thanks for stopping by.
@straw_hut - Really?  I had my snippets turned on for a while and I just turned them off.  Does it really not load on a slow connection or are you just complaining?    Sorry!
