  • Super Mom

    I like to blog about my friend Diane and her 5 boys (2 sets of twins)
    whenever I get the chance.  She’s an inspiration to moms everywhere and
    a personal hero of mine!

    You missed quite a sight this weekend!
    While attending Jaden’s baseball tournament in the lovely, resort town of Pasco,
    WA, my darling son, Cole, proceeded to run and jump into the deep end of the
    pool, thinking it was the shallow end.

    Being that no one else was swimming, this Mommy
    instinctually jumped in to save him…clothes, shoes, cell phone and all!
    All the while as the parents and coaches watched in shock (& hysteria I’m
    sure).  Wet t-shirt contest post 5 kids…NOT a good look I assure
    you!

    Never EVER a dull moment when the our gang
    is around!

    Needless to say, my phone is toast and I need all
    of your contact numbers again…home, cell, work, etc.

    Thanks,

    Diane

    OMG, you’re a hero   I want pictures!!
    In the meantime, remember this from last year?

    The other day, while
    cleaning my bathroom with my phone in the pocket of my hooded
    sweatshirt, the damn phone fell in the toilet (it
    was a fresh  bowl).
      I went online to see if there was anything
    to do without having to buy a new damn phone.  Turns out the
    phone companies have this big conspiracy when the phones get
    wet. They know about water damage because there’s
    a paper
    dot on inside the phone or on the battery that turns red,  so they always make you buy a new
    phone (because water damage isn’t in the warranty).  BUT,
    several websites said something crazy:  If you take out the
    battery and the SIM card, and put the phone in the oven for 5
    hours at 125° it will dry it out.
      I tried it, and
    lo and behold, it worked!  I still have that phone,
    and it’s like nothing ever happened.  The hardest part about
    the whole thing was trying to find the right wine to go with the phone
    .  Also found out the phone companies have big
    drying bins, ovens basically, where they dry out phones and
    resell them as refurbished!  Bastards.  Imagine how
    much money they rake in by making people buy new phones then
    reselling the wet ones.  I’m not sure if it works for every
    phone, and salt water might be a different story, but it worked for me
    (though some of my friends would rather not touch my phone, knowing
    where it’s been, LOL.

    you know what is so funny… i read that posting
    of yours when you posted it a year ago..i thought of it after my “incident” but
    i didn’t have an oven in the hotel.  anyway, my phone was a piece of shit so
    i needed a new one anyway.  what i didn’t realize was that i never saved my
    contacts to my sim card…only to the phone so i lost
    everything….ugghhh..unacceptable!

  • WOHOO!! Go super mom! Lol that was funny and heroic! Well at least she said her phone was a piece of shit and not like ” OH NOES MY APPLE IPHONE with some l33t but useless icons on it! “

    Shit if I had that many kids , I’d get a vasectomy ASAP.

  • looks like a great family.  i was an only child as was my son, so i enjoy the “banter” between Mitch, Kurt, & Erik – I often have to remind them that they really do love each other – lol.  she has much to look forward to!  and at least your slide show shows that her kids have what it takes to get up in the world.  peace, Al

    @aliceandrandy - It happens to the best of us at some point
    @Roninism - Keep up the good work!
    @Loltothepower - You better believe that after the 4th and 5th were born she made her husband get a vacectomy!
    @pukemeister - They’re certainly all boy!
    @ayu_motosan - Call me!

    @lcfu - I’ll ask about a niece for you
    @razzlebash - Thanks

  • I’m just glad that you clean your toilet. Phone in the toilet also happened to my friend a month ago and she was advised to put the phone in a bag of rice. This draws the water out of the phone. You need to leave it there for at least a week but it worked.

  • No shit on the phone thing? Do you have any idea how much money you can save drunk and clumsy college kids?

  • Whoa! Double twins! Cool. Are the two un-stripe-shirted children in the first picture part of the family too?

    And I’d so keep the great tip in mind.

  • @infinitysurfer - Sounds like a business opportunity for us James.  Let’s do it!
    @kingofblur - Thanks Actually the 2 girls in the first pic are the 5 boy’s cousins.   Have a good weekend

  • Two sets of twins!! How lucky?! BTW, thanks for sharing the phone drying tidbit with us!

    ryc: thank you for your well wishes, I’ll take more vitamins from now on!!
