  • Brighter Days & Darker Knights

I thought this day would never arrive.  After nearly four months in the Honda of Hollywood Service Center, I finally got my car back.  Not that I really wanted it back.  I told them last month to just keep it.  There was no earthly reason it could have taken them four months to repair it.  Something is seriously wrong at Honda of Hollywood!  Throw greedy corporate insurance behemoths like Safeco and AAA into the mix and you’ve got a recipe for disaster.

Happier days…the day I got it.

The accident happened on March 20, and at first glance, didn’t look that bad!!

Honda of Hollywood, instead of saying it wasn’t fixable, took four months and nearly $15,000 to fix my 2002 Accord!!  That’s just wrong.

I’m not sure what all these awards were for, but they couldn’t have been for fast service!

Somebody needs to go back to Estimating School!

This was just the bill for my first rental car, from March 21st to June 7th.  I don’t even know what the bill was for the portion from June 7th until today.  Honda of Hollywood has to eat that.  I still have to fight someone for the 4 weeks in between the time Safeco stopped paying for my rental, even though their insured caused the accident.  Melissa Blumhagen was NOT friendly at all and quite rude and condescending on many occasions (I have her voice mails saved).  Welcome to the blogosphere Melissa!!!

I drove it around a bit tonight and it feels weird.  Not sure why.  Maybe it’s because I haven’t driven it in four months.  Or maybe it’s because they should have totaled it in the first place and it’s taken four months and nearly $15,000 to fix!!  I don’t think it will ever be the same.  Some people are telling me that I should get a lawyer and make Honda of Hollywood and “Bill Robertson & Sons” give me a new car.  This whole situation was a clusterf**k from the very beginning.  All I know is that the accident was not my fault, and this has been a nightmare.  I just hope the car is OK now and I get reimbursed.

Amos and I had dinner tonight at Century City, and saw Batman – The Dark Knight.  The movie was every bit as good as you’ve heard.  A word of advice, go to the bathroom before it starts, as it’s long, and you won’t want to leave to pee!  Another word of caution, this movie is DARK!  Heath Ledger gives an Oscar worthy performance.  Chilling really.

The line to get in went around the whole theater.

This is a new restaurant at Century City.  It was packed!

  • did u eat at the restaurant?  if so, any good?

  • Hhahahahaa first comment

  • (sigh) I was determined not to see it after all the hype, but now I’ve heard such good things that I must. Congrats (sort of) on getting your car back. Your story is a shining example of why I drive an ancient dodge dakota. If it quits on me, I can just have it hauled away, and I won’t have lost much. Happy weekend!

  • DAMN IT!!!!!!!! I purposely wanted to say first comment so i could actually post an actual comment…*grumbles* *points at generasianx* mmm yes , Heath Ledger, nooo! :(

Btw your honda accord didnt look that bad. I coulda fixed it for you, with super glue and scissors :D *smiles* , prolly better and faster than those stuck up snobs at honda hollywood. Psssh, RIDE A BICYCLE HEY! That just zoomed into my train of thought. Ooooh take public transport or even better, walk! *gives pedometer , you know those things where they count your steps, its so cool, once i ran in circles to get to a 100 in less than 2 minutes :D* but anyways, …damn lost it….yeah…..dark knight i shall watch.

  • it’s hard to see $15k of damage – hell, i don’t see $7.5k for that matter – but good luck with it for the rest of it’s life.  i’m sure you’ll wanna buy your next car from those caring folks at north hollywood.  i’m spose to take the grandsons to see the movie this weekend – from all i’ve heard, i’m begining to wonder if it a movie for the 10yo?  have a great weekend.  peace, Al

  • =) Batman the Dark Knight was awesome. Thank God I don’t have to wait in line where I live to see such great movies -_-

    Lol.

  • Whenever Ledger’s parts came up in the film, I didn’t know whether to laugh at his quirks or be completely terrified. It was a weird mixture of both.

  • @generasianx - Actually no Tony.  We tried, but the wait was 1 1/2 hours, so I went in and took a few pictures and we went next door to Gulfstream, which I’ll post the pictures of later.  I definitely want to go back though.  Let me know if you wanna go.  You could get some great shots of you know who there!

  • @Loltothepower - LOL
Jin, If I could move the comments around I would!  Actually I’m really
lucky in that where I live in LA I can walk pretty much everywhere.
That’s VERY unusual here.  I only use my car one day a week when I have to drive into my office.  Otherwise, it sits in
    the garage all week.
@MlleRobillard - You have a good weekend too!
    @pukemeister - It
is a very dark movie.  Not sure I would take a 10 year old, but I
understand how they would want to go, and surely enjoy it.
@ALTRUISTICDREAMER - Yeah, but I’ve waited in line with Halle Berry and Keanu Reaves at that same theater before!    Honest!
@wherethefishlives - Yep, that’s a perfect description of his perfomance.  I wonder if we’d feel differently if he were alive?

  • you should sue them or something! 4 months is WAYYYYY too long for such a small damage.

  • you looked so happy when you first got your car. :D it’s good that you got the car back in spite of the ordeal it may help you heal.
that theater is very fancy woo.

  • @Dezinerdreams - Unfortunately I don’t think I would win
@razzlebash - Yep, those were the good ole’ days!   Thanks

  • Well, I hope your car works out well for you.  I think I will wait to see the movie on video!

  • @CareyGLY - ya, let’s go to Rock Sugar sometimes.  i read mediocre reviews on yelp.com tho…small portion/bad service.  so hopefully by the time we go, they’ll fix all the kinks.  i’ll let u know when heidi can do lunch (lunch time is the best time to go for us).

  • @generasianx - Yeah, I saw that too on Yelp.  It will still be good to give it a try!

  • Ahhh, I’m sorry that you have had to go through all of that with your car…especially the stress!  Try and think of their HUGE mistake as costing them dearly and you at least have a car you can drive. I had that same car in black and loved it…but I needed to upgrade to a bigger car once my kids car seats consumed the back seat! LOL!  Drive safe and be well….GLY!

  • Dark Knight was AWESOME! I saw it twice the thursday that it came out, once in a private screening (away from annoying loud mouths) and again on IMAX. You really should see it on IMAX. I almost feel that the movie should be called “The Joker,” as Heath Ledger more than stole the show.

    -Louie

  • @ExodusFX - Somebody told me they had to get their four hours early for the IMAX show at the Spectrum!  Hope you didn’t have to wait that long.  I never thought about calling it The Joker, but you’re absolutely right.
