It’s Oscar week here in Hollywood and to kick it off I was invited to a movie premier tonight in Santa Monica of a new independent film called “The Graduates“.  It’s a coming of age comedy about four high school seniors who learn the true meaning of friendship and growing up.  My friend Seth composed 3 original songs for the soundtrack.  Most of the cast attended the screening tonight, and took questions from the audience after the film.  Seth received accolades from the director for his brilliant songwriting that captured the essence of what the film was all about.  Take a listen:

Besides Seth’s music, the soundtrack is chock full of lots of great indie music that I really enjoyed.  If you like music, you might be interested to know that “The Graduates” is the first film in history to give away 1 million free soundtracks.  No strings attached.  To sample the music, go thegraduatesmovie.com/music.  If you like what you hear, click “Buy Now” next to “Both Digital Discs”.  When you check out, enter the code “GOGRADS” and update your cart (you may have to update twice to change the price to free).  Next simply enter the requested info and click “Free Soundtrack and Trailer” under Download your purchases.  If you like what you hear, spread the word.  This is a great way to market the movie as well as Seth’s and other’s music.

Last week Seth went to another premier of a new online movie called Zombies Inc.  For some reason, that premier was held at The Pleasure Chest, which is an adult store here in West Hollywood.  He called me at 11 PM to ask if I wanted the “gift bag”.  I said of course I did!  This is what it contained:

    I got a t-shirt, hat, a spanking paddle, and….

LOL…don’t ask me what this has to do with zombies…but it was part of the swag!

Another indie movie I saw recently was at Sundance a few weeks ago.  I forgot to blog about it, but it was called Lymelife and starred Alec Baldwin, Timothy Hutton, Cynthia Nixon and the Culkin brothers.  It was a really good movie.  Kind of reminded me of American Beauty in a way.  I have a feeling you’ll be hearing a lot about it this time next year (award season).

Don’t forget that the Independent Spirit Awards are being held this Saturday, the day before the Oscars, in Santa Monica.  My younger brother was here yesterday, so we took the kids and the dogs (I’m still dog-sitting) to Santa Monica and saw where the awards will be held.  It was kind of overcast, so the pictures aren’t great.  It was much prettier last weekend with Claudio & Ryan, but the girls and the dogs had fun!
